Past Events

From early 1980s to 1995 :

 

South Indian Community in Thailand generally celebrated Deepavali and Pongal.. while Deepavali was held in hotels like Rembrandt.. Pongal was always celebrated in Asian Institute of Technology. The community took part in various Charity events every year and promoted friendship and unity among the numerically small South Indian Community in the light of the dominant North Indian Community. It helped to reach our culture Language and food habits to the children. Our traditional music dance etc were promoted. Whenever there were any natural calamities in India in genetal and South India in particular the community contributed. 

From time to time... Tamil New year was also celebrated along with Songkran.

From 1995 to 2000 :


During this period slowly other linguistic groups stated separating out like Malayalam and Kannadiga.. South Indian Community morphed into South Indian Association of Thailand. During this period bridges were built with Tamil Muslim Association. Tamil language was given prominence in all the events. 1995 : Tamil Historical Comedy Drama. 

1997: பயணங்கள் முடிவதில்லை நாடகம்; மற்றும் தமிழ் நகைச்சுவை சிறப்புப் பேச்சு நிகழ்ச்சி

 

1998 : பாரத விளையாட்டு நாடகம்; சிறப்புப் பட்டி மண்டபம் 1999 : மாறி(மாரி)ப் போன பார்ட்டி நாடகம் ; மற்றும் பட்டி மன்றம் ; 2000 : டாலர் மழை நாடகம் ஆகியவை அரங்கேறின

During 2001... 4 of our SIAT active members joined with Kuwait Tamil Sangam to bring out a Tamil Kavithai book

In 2010... Three of our SIAT active members jointly translated about 109 selected Thirukurals into English with Transilitration and published a book let called தமிழ்ச் சிறுதுளி.

This booklet also contained write ups about : 1. Ancient Tamil literature 2. Tamil language 3.Thirukural 4. History and listing of Tamil literature 5. ஒரு இந்தியக்கனவு கவிதைத் தொகுப்பு , 6. Tamil and Thailand ... a historical research on Chola and Pallava s presence in Thailand , 7. Where are the Tamils.. a description of truly metropolitan status of TN etc

2008 : Three SIAT members worked together and researched about Chola and Pallava influences in Thailand and the 2500 years of Historical relationship between Tamil Nadu and Thailand and brought our research papers , presentation and your tube video
 

India Thai Chamber later adopted it and brought out a CD in collaboration with Embassy of India, Thailand and it was shown during various events like I Day  R Day  and 60 years of Diplomatic relationship between Thailand and India.

2004, 2006, 2008 : SIAT presented Bharathiyars songs during I DAY and R DAY events at Embassy

TTA played major roles in Tsunami relief

TTA played its role in Flood relief in Chennai

1st Oct 2015 to 8th Oct 2015 : A workshop on Thanjavur paintings was conducted by Poornima Sivaprasad.. about 15 ladies were trained

4th Oct 2015 : Yoga for Brain Power by Dr.Zakaria and Sankar

 

1st Nov 2015 : Brainetics Maths informatics Games etc by Mr.Reynolds Lavanya and Sankari

 

6th Dev 2015 : Kidathon : Lumpinipark  mentored by Healthy Joggers Krishnan Kanagasabapathy Gopalakrishnan and Varadachari. During Kidathorn.. Rizza Subashish also enacted warm up dancercis.

7th Feb 2016 : Flower making and Clay modelling workshop by Priyadharshini Selvamuthukumar , Ashu Khurana and Swathi
 

3rd April 2016 : 3B Body Vision Yoga by Dr.Zakaria Sankaranarayanan and Muthupriya

 

20th 23rd 2016... a 5 member delegation from TTA went to Malaysia and participated in the 200th year celebration of Tamil teacing in Malaysia during the International Tamil Teachers Conference and presented a paper titled : ஆளவந்தோம் அடிமைகளாக அல்ல. This paper was again based on the ancient historical voyages by sea faring kings from Tamil Nadu coast and their construction of temples in Thailand Vietnam Cambodia Malaysia Laos etc
